Opening Bismarck Seeds

Question
I have lots of Bismarck palm seed that are on the ground. I was wondering how to break them open to get the seeds? What would you recommened doing in this situation.
Thanks,
Tony

Answer
Hi Tony,
Thanx for your question.  Just take all the pulp off the seed and then soak them in a bucket of warm water outdoors in a warm place out of direct sunlight.  They should germinate quickly.  Germinate them in a deep pot because the root grows long and fast.  They should germinate in 5-20 days with this method.  It can often take up to 2-3 months for the seed to germinate when direct planted into soil.  This palm does not like to be moved and can easily die from transplant.  When seeds germinate, transplant carefully into deep pots  I hope this helps.
Tom
