Questionmy outdoor yuka has been healthy for 3 years and is 5ft tall.now all the leafs have dropped and lifeless and brown.how can i get it healthy again.thanks phil
AnswerHi Phil,
Thanx for your question. If it has been unusually wet, this will cause leaf drop. Is the cane still green? If not, there is probably an issue in the roots, most likely a root fungus or crown rot, which pretty much means the end of your plant. Are all of the leaves gone? Occasionally, you may be able to dig up the root clump, pull off all the diseased portions, dust the roots with an anti-fungal and then plant in healthy soil. Treat the area from which the plant came with anti-fungal and don't plant anything else there for at least 3-5 years. If the cane is still alive, check for pests like aphids or beetles. It sounds to me more like a root or crown issue. Check that and let me know what you fine. I hope this helps.
