cottonwood seed dispersal

Question
okay, this is going to sound weird...but...we've been watching our cottonwood tree disperse seeds this year for the last two days.  at between 4-5PM...the seeds that resemble a snowy blizzard all day...completely stop falling or flying.  it's not because the wind dies down...the wind is still blustery and gusting.  is there a chemical exerted in the tree that allows for the release of seed dispersal with the rise in temperature?  sunrise? time of day?  come on...a tree?  i'm perplexed...we made it a point to observe it today and damned if it didn't happen at the same time as last night.
got an explanation?

Answer
Hi Sarah,
Thanx for your question.  Your question is a tree question, best answered by a tree expert and we have a tree expert here on Allexperts.  If you will go back to Home/Gardening and click on Trees and then Click on Trees again, you will find our expert, Jim Hyland who is a Forestry Service professional.  I'm sure he can answer your question more expertly than I.

I hope this helps.
Tom
