QuestionFrom your previous posting...do I need to crack the outter shell of the peach seed (exposing the pit) before planting in the pot?
OR can I store the seed(s) in a plastic bag in the refrigerator over the winter and then plant in a pot late/winter to early/spring for germination.
AnswerHi Brenda,
Thanx for your questions. I've learned a few things since posting those answers regarding peach pits. You can take the outer shell off and find the almond-like pit and plant that directly. I'm sure it probably does make for easier release of the seedling. You don't have to remove it though but everything I am reading now is that most people are removing the hard shell. You can also store the seed in a plastic baggie as I have advised in the past, and place in the fridge for 60-90 days and then plant in late winter to early spring. I hope this helps.
