Approximately how many cultivars have been named and registered with the American Iris Society?

Thanx for your question.  According to Mike and Anne Lowe of the American Iris Society (AIS), there are 63,367 named cultivars to date.

Don抰 have the complete records, pre 1950, in a database, but that is the number of registered iris names from the time records were kept.

From 1950 till present, 26,863 Tall Bearded iris cultivars have been registered, 1,463 Border Beardeds, 1,749 Intermediate Beardeds, 4,184 Standard Dwarf Beardeds, 604 Minature Tall Beardeds, 951 Minature Dwarf Beardeds and 1,584 Arils.
