QuestionI have been growing bonsai trees for 2 years now. I have recently begun the process of growing my own trees from seeds, but it didn't take me long to see how time consuming and slow this process really was. I was hoping you had a solution for me. I want to start growing smaller sized bonsai trees, but I do not have the patience to start them from seeds. I know how to take cuttings, but I live in Oklahoma and I really enjoy growing unique bonsai trees such as coast redwoods or banyan trees. Buying small bonsai trees one at a time is SUPER expensive. What should I do?
I hope this is ok, but I do have a second question. I have a miniature orange tree and I was wondering what type of fertilizer would be best for it.
Thanks!
AnswerHi Cale,
Thanx for your question. I'm not really a bonsai expert at all but I do know that many enthusiasts (as you pointed out) grow their own bonsai plants from seeds. I don't really know if bonsai enthusiasts use cuttings or not. It would seem to me that they might not because the cutting is already a mature part of the tree and you want to start manipulating the growth of the bonsai tree as soon as the seed sprouts. With that said, permit me to refer you to a bonsai expert here on Allexperts.
If you will go to Home/Garden and click and then go to Gardening and click and then go to Bonsai and click, there is one expert there called BonsaiOutlet.com. I'm sure they are much more knowledgeable than I regarding bonsai. I hope this helps.
Thx,
Tom
