cut tree

Question
I CUT DOWN A BLUE SPRUCE THAT WAS TO BIG FOR THE AREA IT WAS GROWING IN JUST BEFORE XMAS, PUT IN WATER RIGHT AWAY AND USED IT AS THIS YEARS XMAS TREE. IT HAS DRANK ABOUT 2 GALLONS OF H2O SO FAR. CAN IT BE PLANTED SOMEWHERE HAVING BEEN HARVESTED THIS WAY? THE ROOT SYSTEM IS STILL IN THE GROUND,CAN IT BE MOVED? WILL IT SEND UP NEW SHOOTS?

Answer
Hi Diane,
Thanx for your question.  Once you cut the tree, it will not keep growing.  The stump with the root system is pretty much done for too.  It is possible that a sprout might emerge from it but highly doubtful.  You could dig it up and move it but I doubt if anything will come out of it.  I hope this helps.
Tom
