QuestionI am a bonsai enthusiast and have been for quite a few years. I recently decided to take on the challenge of growing some trees from seeds. Many bonsai growers stray away from this, but I enjoy a good challenge. My question has to do with the seeds being shipped to me. I was wondering if the cold weather the seeds will encounter over the few days they are being shipped will affect them? The seeds I ordered are cold hardy when they are being grown except one. One is a tropical tree that will be grown indoors. If you need the specifics of the seeds I will be happy to be more specific.
Thank you,

AnswerHi Cale,
Thanx for your question. I have had all kinds of seeds shipped to me at all times of the year. I have never encountered a problem receiving seeds of tropical plants during cold periods. If you were receiving cuttings, bulbs or something fleshy, I would have a concern about cold damage, but seeds can survive through a lot of different conditions. Also, the seed companies will usually advise if it is not safe to ship. I don't think you have anything to worry about but you can always contact the company to make sure. I hope this helps.
