Germinating Hibiscuc seeds

Question
how do i go about germinating the hardy {perennial} seeds

Answer
Hi Linda,
Thanx for your question.  Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus moscheutos) seeds are easily germinated.  You can soak the seeds in warm water over night and then plant about 1/2 inch deep in moist but not soggy potting soil.  Keep warm about 70?to 75?F.  Germination occurs in about 2 weeks.  The seedlings can get pretty leggy if you don't have enough lights.  I have always started mine underneath a 40watt shop light you can buy at Walmart for about $10.  Keep the light suspended about 8-10 inches above the plants.  Put the seedlings in separate pots when they are about 3 inches tall.  Move to the outdoors after the last frost and put them in the shade for about 10 days.  After that, plant in full sun.  I hope this helps.

Linda,
Other hardcoat seeds would include the morning glories, cannas, okra (which is in the hibiscus family).
