QuestionI live in the Hollywood area and have a blueberry plant to put in the ground. It is a bout 2 ft. high and was purchased from whole foods market. i don't have a lot of available land so I need to put it nestled among all my other plants. where do u recommend putting this plant in my garden? is it a climber, does it get big, will it produce, go dormant?? fill me in on blueberry plants and if it will do ok in a nice little LA garden.
AnswerHi Rachel,
Thanx for your question. Because you don't have a lot of space, how about growing the blueberry shrub in a large pot? Blueberries require moist, acidic soil, which you don't have in Los Angeles. It will be easier for you to maintain acidity with acidic fertilizers and keep the pot moist. The blueberry is a shrub. You can keep it pruned but you'll need to be careful how you prune. A link for growing blueberries will be shown below. If you're going to plant it with your other plants, plant in full sun but allow for some afternoon shade if possible. Make sure the plant is watered at least once a week, very deeply. Amend the soil with peat and well-composted manure. Fertilize with an acidi-fertilizer available at your DIY or nursery.

I hope this helps.
