QuestionQUESTION: I am trying to get set up to graft Japanese maples so I can have a few more maples to work on for my bonsai hobby/addiction. I am looking for the ideal root stock and a source for that root stock. I would prefer seeds, but seedlings would work if the cost is not too high. Thanks, Tom
ANSWER: Hi Tom,
Great Name! I am not a bonsai expert but we do have one here on Allexperts who would be much more knowledgeable than I. If you will go to Home/Garden and then click on Gardening and then Click on Bonsai, there is one expert there. Let me know if they can't answer your question and I'll see what I can do about finding you an answer.
thx,
Tom

QUESTION: Yes indeed. My question was more on grafting. I am trying to find root stock for maples so I can graft. What happens to the tree after grafting does not effect the root stock. Certainly I will contact the other person who works on bonsai, but he may not do any grafting and only work on mature subjects. Thanks again. Tom
AnswerHi Tom,
Here is a link to a site that deals with Acer palmatum rootstocks and bonsai too. I hope this is helpful to you.
