snowball bush planting

Question
Someone told me if you plant a snow ball bush in different kind of spoils and get different color blooms.
Would that be true?

Answer
Hi Brandon,
Thanx for your question.  Snowball bush blooms are white no matter what kind of soil they are planted in.  Hydrangeas on the other hand sometimes resemble snowball bushes.  Hydrangea macrophylla also known as mophead hydrangea can bloom in white.  The pink variety will bloom blue when growing in acidic soil.  People can amend their soil with Miracid and other acidic fertilizers in order to get/maintain the blue color.  I hope this helps.
Tom
