QuestionQUESTION: we have vegetable seeds in peat pots, and wonder when and the best method of watering them. they were accidentally overwatered and some of the tomatoe leaves turned yellow and the plants don't look well.
ANSWER: Hi Joan,
Thanx for your question. It is always best to water from the bottom. I always do that with my seedlings. If you over water, empty the remaining water and allow the pots to dry out. Most of the time, the seedlings will recover once they are not drowning in water. I have my vegetable and flower seedlings in 10X20 inch seed flat trays that don't have holes in them. The seedlings are in separate paper pots or peat pots or cell inserts. I put water in the tray and allow the water to be pulled up into the soil of the pots/cells. Excess water is then dumped out. I hope this helps.

QUESTION: new question; I used 1-1/2 tsp. organic fertilizer in a gallon of water and very sparsely used it on the seedlings. When is the next time I should fertize them? thanks for the answer to my first question, Joan
AnswerHi Joan,
Thanx for your question. Usually, with seedlings we use fertilizer at half strength and do this every 10 to 14 days. Take a look at the directions on your package to ensure that my information is not in conflict with the manufacturer's. I hope this helps.
