prppogating loquats

Question
I saw your answer, but you didn't mention having to refrigerate the seed for any time before removing the covering on the pit.  Is it neccessary to refrigerate for any leagnth of time?

Answer
Hi Albert,
Thanx for your question.  Loquat seeds are easy to germinate.  Soak the seeds for 24-48 hours and plant 1/2 inch deep.  No need to refrigerate or otherwise cold treat.  Bear in mind, seeds usually result in inferior fruit although the tree itself is ornamental.  The production of fruit can take up to 8 years from seed.  I hope this helps.
Tom
