Question
I would like to know which type of maple seed can be used to grow rootstock to graft maples.  I have be able to come up with the term Acer Palmatum but seems to be part of the name of many maples.  So, basically would like to grow my own rootstock without having to do it by trial and error.  Always better to ask someone who knows and learn from their mistakes rather than making my own.  Which I know will happen.  Just trying to prevent as much as possible.  Thanks for your help.

Thanx for your question.  Growing root stock is a bit out of my field of expertise.  I would recommend you contact Jim Hyland one of our Allexperts volunteers who is on the Tree forum.  He is one of our tree experts.  Go to Home/Garden, click on Trees and then click on Trees again.  Jim's name should come up and you can pose your question to him.  I hope this helps.
