Questioncan I replant english ivy by just sticking pieces in the ground? its hard to find roots they are so matted.
AnswerJay, by planting cuttings directly in the ground, the probability for their survival is very low. Instead, start them indoors in a 32 cell seed tray filled with potting soil and covered with a vented plastic dome to retain moisture. Be sure to keep the tray near an east window or place the tray under a fluorescent light for 10 hours per day. They should root within about three weeks and then be ready for transplanting outdoors.
Good luck, and please write again if you ever need assistance.
