QuestionI planted five pips in small pot rwo months ago. Only one germinated, but by now it has produced only a thin green stem about an inch long (like a matchstick) with one leaf. Kept well watered and indoors on window ledge above a central heating radiator. How long before it grows bigger ?
AnswerHi John,
Thanx for your question. Your lemon seedling needs lots of strong light, preferably in a window that gets eastern or southern exposure. If not, you need to put it 8 inches below a 40-watt shop light until it gets to be a foot long or so and then it should be able to survive in a well-lit room. Needs to be kept watered but free draining so the roots don't get soggy. Feed 1/2 strength 12-12-12 balanced fertilizer every ten days for the next couple of months. Needs to stay warm, say 75-85 F. I hope this helps.
