QuestionHi Tom:
I love Roses of Sharon I grow them all over my property in Rocky Point, NY 11778.Sometimes I loose plants when it comes to transplanting in the late summer HELP? 1.Could you tell me the best time of year to transpant and how? Thanks Louis
AnswerHi Louis,
Thanx for your question. Actually, late summer or early fall is the best time to transplant shrubs and most perennials. Just make sure you make the hole slightly deeper than the root ball, amend it with some composted manure and then plant the transplant gently fanning its roots out and cover with soil. Then soak the daylights out of the planting. Water it once a week if you're not getting regular rain. Sometimes, you just lose some. That's just nature. But you shouldn't be losing very many. Make sure you transplant them quickly once you have dug them up. I hope this helps.
