A tree
Hi, Tom,
A seedling has been growing in my back yard, I potted it. Looks like a nut tree (it has a nut at its base). It has 3 leaves growing from one point. Please see attachment. Can you please help me find out what it is?

Thanx for your question. The seedling looks like an oak seedling. Did you have acorns in your backyard? Sometimes an acorn without the top covering will appear to be a nut. Also, a squirrel or some other animal could have brought the acorn into your yard. The only other thing it might remotely resemble is a hazelnut or filbert. I hope this helps.
