QuestionCould there be a reason why all
the trees in the area where I live (I live in Northern Virginia) seem to be producing more seeds than I have ever seen - holly, maple, cherry, oak, pine and more. Seems like there are three or four times as many seeds on all of these trees - I was wondering if that could be a sign of a particular sort of weather coming - heat or wet or cold or other?? Or am I just imagining this?
AnswerHi Elizabeth,
Thanx for your question. In some years trees will produce more seeds or fruit. I don't think it has anything to do as a harbinger of future weather but sometimes a tree will produce more fruit or seeds after having a minimal production in prior years. It's kind of nature's way of making up for not producing much in a prior year as a result of a drought or some other weather extreme. I hope this helps.
