QuestionHi, i just had a few questions about making plant pots out of newspaper. I was just wondering can you use any sheet of newspaper to make a plant pot? I have heard somewhere that you are not supposed to use newpaper with colored ink, is this true? About how long do these pots last before they biodegrade? i would appreciate info on anything you know about making pots from newspaper. Thanks for your help
AnswerHi Dustin,
Thanx for your help. I've been making paper pots for several years. They come in handy and save me lots of money, plus, there is no clean up when I put them in the garden as they biodegrade rapidly. Do not use the colored paper. Sometimes the ink is poisonous and they do not biodegrade as rapidly. I have been told over and over not to use the colored paper and so, I never have. I do believe the ink used for colors is probably toxic to seedlings. The paper pot makers cost about $15 and can be ordered on line. I hope this helps.
