Hi Tom, I just read about the 5 shelved stand that you and your brother made. I love the sound of it and I'm going to see what I can do to replicate it! I just wanted a little clarification before I build the wrong thing.

1. It's similar to a bookcase?
2. One 4-foot long shoplight over each shelf?
3. The 10x20 inch trays have plastic covers?

Thanks for your time and effort answering my question. I'm eager to start some 14-month Heliconia germinating projects!

Thanx for your questions.

Is it similar to a book case?  Absolutely.  
Yes, one 48-in (4 ft) long shoplight (Walmart has them for 11 or 12 dollars) over each shelf.  I use chains to raise or lower them over the seedlings.
I used to use plastic covers on my seed flats but I had too much trouble with damping off disease (a fungus) so I don't uses plastic covers anymore and it works great as long as you keep the trays watered.  I hope this helps Richard.  Let me know.
