QuestionMy tomato seedlings are now about three inches high but appear to have stopped growing. The leaves have gone pale green (white in some areas) and some of the plants appear to be withering. I always keep the soil moist and the plants have plenty of light. They are indoors at the moment but are fading fast. Any remedies out there??
AnswerHi Roy,
Thanx for your question. I've been growing tomato, pepper and eggplant seedlings indoors for a number of years. I keep the temps at about 75F but then a little lower once the seedlings have their second set of leaves (65-70). I feed them a 1/2 strenth solution of fish emulsion every 10 days and keep them under 40-watt shop lights. After they are 3 or 4 inches tall, I transplant them into separate cells. Don't let them sit ind damp soil, let it dry a little (not parched), but it shouldn't be too wet. That will cause the white and withering. Did you notice if you had any little bugs on the underside of the leaves (little white or green, tiny bead looking things?) these are aphids and even indoors it is possible to have them, use horticultural soap to remove them permanently withouth harming the plant. Let me know what happens.
