cedar clippings

Question
Hi Tom, thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question. I inherited a very green thumb from my mom and I put it to good use. I have many trees I have grown from seed and a 24' x 24' green house full of plants and trees.
I have over 200 cedar trees lining my property for privacy and also a wind break. My question is, is it possible to take clipping from cedars and root them? I have grown a few directly from the seeds, but I would like to get clippings. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
I would also like to know about my pecan trees. I have several trees I grew from the pecan itself. These trees are approximately three years old and ranging from three to four feet tall. Will they produce nuts and if so how long will it take. Thanks again, I have read a lot of your entries and you are a God send.

Answer
Hi Syndi,
Thanx for your question.  I don't have experience rooting cedar but I found some good instructions I think will help.

According to the University of Missouri Extension it will take 15 or more years for a pecan tree raised from a seed to produce nuts.  I hope this helps.
Tom
