Can hybiscus be propogated with your young cuttings dipped in rooting compound and planted in pot? Am interested in some pretty fancy varieties. Also, what material is best for fertilization?

AnswerLynn, propagation by cuttings is the preferred choice. It guarantees that you will get the same color and growth characteristics as the parent plant.
As you stated, just dip a tender cutting in rooting compound, water the soil to the point of runoff, and then cover the seedling with clear plastic. Make sure you provide the seedling with at least 8 hours of light per day. Check the seedling every couple of days to ensure the soil is still moist. After 2-3 weeks, the roots should be established. You can then remove the plastic and treat the seedling as you would any other.
