fungus on azalea cuttings

Question
i am trying toroot some azalea cuttings.  i have them in a seedling tray with a clear plastic lid and keep them under flourescent light.  however a white fungus is killing them.  it is on the leaves and stems and grows in little mounds on the potting medium.  is there anything i can do?  i have sprayed them with fungicide and removed the lid.

Answer
Hi Nancy,
Thanx for your question.  I would recommend the cuttings be about 4-6 inches long.  Plant them in a container that you can enclose in a large, clear, plastic bag.  Keep the medium warm.  It should be wet sand or soil less mix.  You can sprinkle a coating of milled sphagnum moss on the soil less mix/sand and this will help keep down the fungus.  Open the bag twice a day and mist the cuttings.  You should get roots in 4-8 weeks.  I hope this helps.
Tom
