QuestionI have a honeysuckle vine that is three years old,I want to change the look of the flower bed,cause the vine is over powering the front entranceway way,,BUT I really don't want to lose the plant?How hard is it to dig up the roots?
It climbing on a trellis about 5 feet tall.Also the fragrance is not really strong.THANK YOU for any help,possible..

Thanx for your question. I would cut the vine back to withing a foot or so above ground now. Dig up as much of it as you possibly can. This will be a pretty big root ball but your should be able to get a good enough portion of it that it will have not trouble adapting to its new surroundings and grow. As I said, this should be done now, or wait until the spring right after the last frost. Mulch it well to protect the roots and water it once a week until it is established or until winter comes. In the spring, feed it until it looks like it is growing well with a 12-12-12 balanced fertilizer. I wouldn't feed it anymore once it gets going. I hope this helps.
