QuestionI have a rose of sharon bush that was just about dead. I put it in a vase of water with some plant food. It now has about 2 inch roots on it and is still green and alive. My question is, how do I plant it now? Do I put it in the ground or should I put it in a pot until it starts to grow? Please Help! Thanks Judy
AnswerJudy, I would first transplant it into a 12" container filled with a fertile potting mix. Allow it to mature for 4-6 weeks before planting it outdoors.
The best time to transplant outdoors is fall, a few weeks before your first expected frost. This gives the plant the entire winter to establish its root system before blooming next spring.
Good luck, and please write again if I can ever be of assistance.

Mike
