QuestionSir,
Due to Global Warming the water level is going to rise above the ground level. Will it effect the agricultural productivity? Can we get crops that can support vegetation in absence of soil? Please suggest.

AnswerHi Hafeez,
Thanx for your question. I am by no means a scientist. I can only speculate based upon data I have read through the Internet or otherwise obtained from other media. I don't think sea level is going to rise above ground level in my lifetime but I do believe it will be a significant issue 100 years from now if actions are not taken quickly now. Others would disagree with my assessment. It sea level does rise, yes, it will definately have devastating effects. In the U.S. Florida and the Gulf Coast and much of the Atlantic seaboard will be adversely affected. Bangladesh is another example of a country whose agriculture will be all but destroyed by rising ocean levels. Holland and the Low Countries would be devastated in Northern Europe. Island nations in the Pacific would be devastated. Have you heard of the science of Hydroponics? This is growing plants in a nutrient medium that is water-based an not soil based. Food is already being produced via hydroponics. Here is a link you might find informative.

I hope this helps.
