Questionout of the almost 100 1-2 inches new growth of japanese maple that came from my mature tree, only 20 of them live when I put them in a potting soil. is it the pH of the soil or am I missing something?
AnswerHi Jean,
Thanx for your question. You grew 100 seedlings of Japanese maple? Allow the seedlings to get a couple of sets of true leaves (the first leaves are just seed leaves and the plant is too young to transplant) before you transplant to separate pots. Allow the seedlings to grow in the pots until they are strong. I don't think it's pH. I think you are transplanting too early. I hope this helps.
