lemon trees from seeds

Question
How do I start to grow a lemon tree from seeds I have some that are drying out and I don't know if I can grow them or not I live in Fort Worth Tx.

Answer
Hi Nina,
Thanx for your question.  Most citrus seed is easy to germinate.  However, the resulting tree will probably not produce fruit similar to what you purchased because most citrus in the U.S. are hybrids and are grown on separate rootstock.  It is fun to try though.  Allow the seed to dry out for a few days and then plant the seeds in good potting soil, moist, but not soggy and about 1/2 inch deep.  Keep warm and watered and germination will occur in a less than 2 weeks.  Allow the seedling to grow about 4-6 inches tall with several sets of leaves before pricking out gently and planting it in a separate pot.  I hope this helps.
Tom
