Propagation of pepper trees

Question
I would like to grow a pepper tree (schinus ariera) from seed. I collected some red berries today from one and am not sure what to do? I am in Tasmania, with a climate of from 35 to 90 degrees and no frost to speak of. I would appreciate your help.

Answer
Hi John,
Thanx for your question.  Did you know that some of the state governments of Australia consider this species invasive?  Just thought you'd like to know.  The seed is easily germinated.  Remove the seeds from the berries and wash them making sure you get them clear of any pulp.  Plant the seeds with 3-4mm of soil and keep the soil damp but not soggy.  Keep the soil warm at around 24 C.  Germination takes place in 2-4 weeks.  Plants are ready to transplant when 30-35 cm tall.  I hope this helps.
Tom
