QuestionYour answer to Ron provided most of the information I needed. But, when is the right time to transfer the pit to a pot with soil? Once some roots start growing from the bottom? After the roots get a certain length?

Thanx for your question. As soon as a root shows, you can plant the pit. Just keep the soil moist (not soggy) and warm. Keep the pot in an area where it gets a lot of sunlight. Don't put it outdoors if you are anticipating a frost or extended periods below 50 degrees. I hope this helps.
