trumpet vine propagation by seeding

Question
I have a red trumpet vine --I would say it is mature.  I see lots of what looks like little trumpet plants coming up--some are say 30 ft from the main plant.  Do these things propagate by seeding? Near the plant--can the roots sprout.  Finally, if I dig these up can I start new ones--assuming that is what I want?  Thanks for your help.  Hank

Answer
Hi Hank,
Trumpet vines self-seed like crazy and they also send up shoots from the main roots.  You can dig these up and cut them away from the parent root and replant wherever you like.  The seeds should be planted in the fall and allowed to winter over and they will sprout easily in the spring.  Be advised that this plant can become very invasive.  I hope this helps.
Tom
