Questionwhat is the procedure for saving and germinating favorite cherry tree seed?
AnswerHi David,
Thank you for your question. Take your cherry seed and plant it as deep as the seed is wide in a pot of damp but not soggy potting soil. The pot will need at least 60 days of 40 degree temperatures but not less than 25 degrees F. The cold period needs to be for at least 60 days. Put the pot inside of a plastic bag and place in the fridge for at least 2 months. Then take out and put the pot in a sunny window (without the plastic bag) until you see germination (3-6 months). Seeds from most fruit sold in the grocery store are the result of hybrids. Seeds from hybrid plants will generally not result in good duplicates of the parent plants. I hope this helps.
