QuestionHelp! I went to an employees house this evening to deliver some parts and his drive way was lined with Philodendrons that were about 5' tall. One had been run ove by a truck some months past and he was digging it up. I asked if I could have the corpse, he gave it to me. It had already started to send out new leaves that are about 1' long. We have it here at our house now and want to do something with it now, tonight. It is a cluster of roots and stalks that are as big around as a coke can. The whole cluster is a tangled mess of roots and stalks about as big as a 5 gallon bucket. Can we pull these stalks apart and transplant the individually in seperate locations in our yard? What should we do?
AnswerHi Talmadge,
Thanx for your questions. Yes, you can pull the stalks apart and transplant individually in the yard. Make sure each stalk has plenty of roots so it can grow in the soil. Be sure to give the roots plenty of room and water when planted. They don't need much attention after that. You can stick unrooted stalks or stalks with just a few roots in a jar of water and they should root rather quickly. Make sure you change the water frequently so it doesn't get dirty. I hope this helps.
