QuestionWhen I cut a arm of a cacti off, how long should I let it heal out in the air before I plant it in a new pot and cacti soil?. Should I attempt to replant cacti that has both ends cut. What I did was cut a long 22" into 3 parts. The very end one was greener, and dulled brown down toward the next two pieces. Thanks---RwG
AnswerHi Ray,
Thanx for your question. Let the ends heal until they look dry and brownish. A week should be fine. Make sure they are fully exposed to air and light. It doesn't matter if you have cut both ends. Either end will root. Stick it in some cactus potting soil which you can get ready-made at Walmart or Home Depot. Make sure the soil is a little damp but don't let it be soggy. Allow the soil to dry completely out before watering again. Cacti usually root rather quickly. I hope this helps.
