QuestionThat is, I think its a succulent and of course I no longer have the tag with its name on it. It grows on the lanai (SW Florida), gets late day sunshine, needs very little water, has more than trebled its size in under 6 months. The 'stem' is becoming woody. It has a variegated leaf, almost heart shape, with serated edges. It is a bright green w/creamy border. The odor is similar to minty herb. I think its a hybrid because it looks to me like part of it has reverted. Part of it is no longer variegated. It hangs over the pot and is now getting somewhat leggy. It delivers a spire/feather/cluster of tiny, lavender 'flowers' which have no odor at all. It was planted into a plastic pot, w/drainage and a mix of compost, potting earth and covered w/heavy mulch. I don't know what else I can tell you. I want to propagate it and thought to try the following: 1)allow one cutting to callous before repotting and then lay it on its side, not cut side down 2) dip one cutting into hormone rooting powder and allow that to callous, then pot it upright 3)dip another into hormone rooting powder and pot it up and 4)stick a cutting into water.

ask you what you think! Thank you
AnswerPenny,
It sounds like you have an inquisitive mind and getting ready for a science fair. I do not give away answers if I suspect students are involved because through discovery our kids learn. If this isn't the case I am sorry for making the assumption, but this time of year I get lots of students looking for the easy way out.
The four treatments you have listed are good, some better than others. You will have succes with at least one of these.
Good luck
