QuestionCan you please pass on any tips for seed propogation for shrimp plant as a friend of mine collected some on holiday . many thanks
AnswerHi Gina,
Thanx for your question. The shrimp plant is a tropical plant. The seeds will germinate at 61 degrees F. I have never tried myself but if I had some this is what I would do. Surface sow the seed onto damp but not soggy potting soil and press into the soil. Put the pot inside a plastic baggie and seal it. Keep it warm (70-75 F). Germination will probably take place in a few weeks. When the seeds germinate, make sure they get plenty of light. A sunny window will not do. You need to place the pot underneath (about 8 inches below) a 40 watt flourescent light. You can transplant the seedlings after they have their first set of true leaves. The first set of leaves is not the true leaves. I hope this helps.
