grapevine

Question
my neighbour has grapevine and it is growing through the fence all over our side.  I don't mind it however, I would like to grow it elsewhere in my backyard and since it is so abundant I didn't know if I can root some of it to transplant elsewhere?

Answer
Cheryl,

You can root grapes fairly easily.  Take a cutting about 5 inches long from the terminal end of a vine.  Dip the cut end in rooting hormone available at your local garden center.  Stick the cut end in a pot with potting media and water well.  Take a plastic bag and place over the pot to hold moisture in and wait.  It may take 6 weeks for any roots to form.

An easier method would be to simply buy a vine from the garden center and not worry about trying to root one on your own.

I hope this helps.

Gary
