Questioncould yoy please help me..I was told if I save the seeds from my Melrose peppers especialy the big ones I could use them to start plants in the spring is this true...if so how do I dry them out..how long ...then do I have to refrigerate them first or not..or should I just buy the seeds..problem is in Illinois it is hard to find Melrose peppers..thank you ..George Pope
AnswerGeorge, propagation from seed is a relatively easy process. Harvest the seeds and place them in a brown paper bag. Be sure to store the bag in a dry location. After about two weeks, shake the bag and carefully remove the dislocated seeds. Place the seeds in a ziplock bag and store them in the back of your refrigerator in a plastic container. After a dormant period of at least three months, the seeds can be planted. Pepper seeds will remain viable for at least two years.
I hope this answered your question. Good luck, and have a great weekend.
