QuestionHi, I live in southeastern Colorado, the honeysuckle is blooming now. I'd like to take some cuttings and start my own, when is the best time to take cuttings, and do I root them in water or in the ground? Thank you for your help. Tammy
AnswerHi Tammy,
Thanx for your question. The best way to root honeysuckle is to take parts of the vine that can be put on the ground without detaching from the mother plant. Score the stem of the vine with a 1 inch slit and place on the ground covering with dirt and then a rock on top of that to keep the vine from moving. It should root in about 2 months. After that you can dig up the cuttings and cut them off of the main vine and transplant them wherever there is full sun. I hope this helps.
