QuestionI am starting a new garden space. If I use the solution of vinegar, salt and dish soap to kill the grass and weeds will it sterilize the ground?
AnswerHi Pat, I would leave out the salt. The vinegar will top kill (not always root kill) most weeds. It may lower your pH, so make sure you check it and keep it in the range your plants need. The soap actually will improve drainage, so it can be beneficial. Some plants however don't like salt, so I would not use it except in the asparagus bed. Otherwise, you would be safe to plant the next day after application. Jim
