QuestionI live REALLY close to the beach, you only have to dig a few inches down to hit sand. We have some "lawn" and a few plants. I don't want to invest a whole lot of time and money into because I am a renter, but want a nice outdoor space to enjoy the nice summer. The lawn is patcy and mostly the lawn consists of clover (which I hate!). Do you have any recommendations on plants that would do well in those soil conditions as well as any grass ideas?!
Thanks!
AnswerHi Tara, If you are in the south, St. Augustine would be my choice for a lawn grass. In colder climates, I'd use perennial ryegrass. Which shrubs to use also depends on how cold it gets where you are, so do a search on line for salt tolerant shrubs and then go to your local nursery with the list and see which ones are appropriate for where you live.
