Question
gardenia leaves
Hi Sir,
I found some funny brown spots on my gardenia plant and some of the leaves are yellowing. Is it fungal infection? Has it reached flowering size yet? I'm growing it on my balcony indoors though. Will attach more pictures for your reference.
AnswerOn both of your plants, the yellowing appears to be confined to the oldest foliage. Normally this is associated with light issues. If you lower the light from what a plant is used to, it can't support as much foliage, so it sheds the oldest, least productive tissue. Just moving a plant from one side of a window to another can cause it to shed. I think this is the case on both of your plants. I'd like to have 8 plus hours of direct sun on both of them. The gardenia is old enough to bloom, but it's young, I'd let it grow and remove any flowers that might form for the next year. Jim
