are spike plants acid loving or should i be using a lime to fertilize

Hi Joe, Most "spike plants" are just young Draceana marginata plants.  They need a pH around 6.  You'll need to check the pH of your soil before you can determine whether you need to adjust it.  A good quality fertilizer should not change it much.  Fertilizers for "acid loving" plants should not be used even on acid loving plants unless you know the pH first.  Too acidic is just as bad as not acidic enough.  Jim
