Question
I am building a small vegetable garden in my backyard and am planning on purchasing soil in bulk instead of in bags from the home improvement store.  Is topsoil what I want to order or is there something else that I should get?

Hi, You need to see the top soil first.  If it's just clay, you'll need some organic matter to blend with it.  Often I've seen top soil that is just composted leaves and bark, so you need some clay in it.  The bulk company may have a "garden mix" that is already blended.  Your soil should be 60-70% of you local soil with organic matter added to it.  Jim
