QuestionI have allergies to grass and trees and since my wife died I have to mow the grass. I did hire a guy for a while but he said my one bank was just to hard too mow and he hurt his back and will no longer do it. I also have a bad back and a heart condition. So I thought, why not kill the grass and then plant something like Creeping Myrtle but how do I kill the grass and keep it from turning into a mud bath on a rainy day and how should I kill the grass in preperation for the ground cover? Bank is steep but barely 4 feet high but almost 100 ft. long. Do you have any suggestions for me and my runny nose?
Thanks, Charlie
AnswerHi Charlie, If you want groundcover, spray the grass with glyphosate and then cover the entire bank with landscape fabric. Wait a week and then go to your local garden center and get their suggestion for a groundcover suitable to where you live and one that will root through the fabric. Cut small "x"s in the fabric and plant the ground cover. Jim
