QuestionWhat type of soil will help burning bushes grow and become deep red? I have three two are still green and one is a light red however, the ones here at work are bright red. I live in northwestern Wisconsin, I know the cool nights help in changing them also.
AnswerHi Melva, They aren't very picky about soil. In fact, the sale of them is banned in a number of states because they are an invasive species, growing anywhere and everywhere. Any well drained soil, pH 5-6.5 and a sunny location is fine. Warm days and cool nights trap sugars in the leaves and gives you the best fall color as long as they're not drought stressed.
