QuestionEvery year my raised flower beds start having a white substance on top of the
soil. I am not sure what to do or how to prevent it next year. The white stuff
starts leaking through the cracks on the bricks on the flower bed. Is this mold
or fungus? Is there a product I can use?
AnswerHi Teresa, It sounds like a fungus from your description and it's probably harmless to your plants. Cultivating the soil surface periodically may stop it or a good all purpose soil fungicide could be used. Check with your local garden center for one approved for use in your area. A mild clorox solution should remove it from your bricks. Jim
